Smart Cart ("we", "our", or "us") is operated by Sheelon Inc. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use the Smart Cart mobile application and related services.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following information when you use Smart Cart:

Account information: Email address, display name, and encrypted password when you register
Country preference: UK or US, used to show relevant supermarkets and currency
Price submissions: Product names and prices you submit to the community database
Receipt images: Photos of receipts you choose to scan, processed by our AI service and not stored after processing
Shopping lists: Lists you save within the app (Pro subscribers only)
Usage data: Anonymous statistics about how features are used, to improve the app

2. How We Use Your Information

To operate and maintain your account
To display community price data and comparison results
To process AI-powered receipt scanning (images are sent to OpenAI's API and not retained)
To manage your subscription via RevenueCat
To send transactional emails (password resets, account notices) via Resend
To improve the accuracy and quality of our price database

3. Third-Party Services

Smart Cart uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:

OpenAI — processes receipt images for AI scanning (openai.com/privacy)
RevenueCat — manages in-app subscriptions and purchases (revenuecat.com/privacy)
Resend — sends transactional emails (resend.com/privacy)
Google Play / Apple App Store — handles payment processing for subscriptions

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on secure servers. Passwords are encrypted using bcrypt and are never stored in plain text. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

5. Receipt Images

When you use the receipt scanning feature, your image is sent to OpenAI's API to extract product and price information. The image is processed in real time and is not stored by us or OpenAI after processing.

6. Your Rights (UK/EU Users)

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you
Request correction of inaccurate data
Request deletion of your account and associated data
Object to processing of your data

7. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal information is removed from our systems within 30 days. Community price submissions may remain in anonymised form.

8. Children's Privacy

Smart Cart is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or an in-app notice. Continued use of Smart Cart after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
